Scope of Position
The Assistant Treasury Analyst is responsible for the investment of liquidity pool and surplus funds based on cash flow forecast; the cash flow analyses; the maintenance of interest rates and foreign exchange rates on the banking system; calculating the daily and monthly liquidity ratios; interest rate survey; the preparation of month-end entries and other related duties.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Activities
  • Invest liquidity pool in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Invest surplus funds in accordance with the investment policy and Alco/Treasury strategy
  • Prepare accounting entries related to investments
  • Maintain investment transaction reporting
Cash Flow Activities
  • Prepare daily cash position
  • Prepare daily market summary and post on The Source
  • Prepare cash flow analyses
Liquidity & FX Exchange Activities
  • Calculate daily liquidity ratio
  • Calculate daily US Currency exposure
Treasury Information Maintenance Activities
  • Keep up to date on market position
  • Perform interest rate survey
  • Prepare and update interest rate sheet for approval
  • Update foreign exchange rates on all posted information sources
Asset/Liability Management Support
  • Update monthly Economic Outlook report
Month-end & Quarterly Functions
  • Prepare Regulators Cash and Security monthly report
  • Prepare  monthly liquidity ratio
  • Update  index linked term deposit monthly value and calculate payout factor for expiring contracts
  • Prepare month end entries related to investments
  • Prepare OSFI monthly and quarterly reporting
  • University/College degree in a related discipline and/or previous relevant experience in banking, finance or treasury
  • Canadian Securities Course is an asset
  • Intermediate or advanced level spread sheet, word processing and Internet skills
