We are an innovative biotechnology company focused on the research, development and commercialization of innovative therapies in pulmonology and orphan fibrotic diseases. Were founded in 1998 and our Headquarters are located in Brisbane, California.
In pulmonology, we are focused on therapies for the treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), which is a progressive and fatal lung disease and represents a critically unmet medical need. Based on various epidemiology studies and our own research, we estimate that there are between 50,000 and 70,000 patients living with IPF in the United States. Up to 15,000 to 20,000 new patients are diagnosed with IPF every year (www.knowipfnow.com).
Esbriet® (pirfenidone) was approved in Europe in March 2011 for the treatment of IPF. It has been launched by InterMune in 14 of 15 prioritized European countries, including Germany,France and Italy. Esbriet was approved by Health Canada in October 2012 and was launched by InterMune. InterMune’s Phase III study, ASCEND, was completed in Q1 2014 and results were positive, with pirfenidone being shown as an effective treatment for IPF, generally safe and well tolerated.

Who You Are
You will possess significant field sales experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and have the entrepreneurial spirit and drive to help build our U.S. business and team.
You have sold specialty drugs before, have product launch experience and may have specific Pulmonology and/or orphan drug experience.
You have worked and thrived in a smaller pharma/biotech organization and regularly demonstrated your entrepreneurialism, nimbleness, flexibility and team spirit.
You enjoy working in an environment without many layers, where your direct contributions are easily visible. You enjoy helping build a business and team, where not everything is already defined or in place.
As an experienced field professional, you have consistently met or exceeded sales and other critical business goals and metrics in a highly complex and competitive market.
You will be accountable for meeting or exceeding sales targets and related business metrics for all customer accounts in your assigned territory.
You will achieve sales and other business objectives and goals by developing, implementing and managing robust and actionable territory and customer account plans, developing and cultivating strong internal and external relationships, consistently demonstrating IPACT values and identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for continuous improvement.

Candidates for this position are expected to demonstrate the following education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. Except where specified as “preferred,” or a “plus,” the following are considered minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (life science discipline is a plus)
- 5 or more years’ field sales experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. Small/start-up pharma/biotech experience is strongly preferred
- New product launch experience is strongly preferred
- Consistent achievement of sales and other quantitative and qualitative targets/goals and objectives in a highly complex and competitive market
- Outstanding interpersonal, selling, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills: you have highly developed consultative selling skills and help your customers find solutions to their needs or problems
- Strong business planning skills: you have a proven track record of building and consistently executing effectively against targeted and actionable business plans that enable you to meet or exceed your sales targets and other objectives
- Ability to travel by air, train or car (>90 percent)
