Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, International Recruitment and Admissions, the Senior International Recruiter works as a member of this team to ensure the enrolment management goals of the university at large are met. Often, a student recruitment representative makes the first contact with prospective applicants. In this way, the recruitment and admissions office maintains a vital strategic link between prospective students and the Laurier community. This person also works to ensure the enrolment management goals of the university are met while being cognisant and supportive of a multi-campus environment.

Under the general direction of the Manager of International Recruitment & Admissions, the Senior International Recruiter performs a variety of tasks relating specifically to international student recruitment. This involves participation in a 6-week training period and a number of international trips and local Ontario school visits. The core of the Senior International Recruiter’s role is to give presentations (in high schools and at fairs) about Laurier to prospective students, guidance counsellors and parents while building and maintaining relationships by answering questions as the prospective students work through their decision making regarding post-secondary education.

Recruitment and Admissions is a team based environment and this role will be a key contributor to the overall objectives of this team. Positive interpersonal interactions are required on an ongoing basis with departments (e.g. Laurier International, Student Services) at the Waterloo Campus, the Brantford Campus, the Toronto and China offices, agents and other external partners. This position has a university-wide mandate that will require travel to all campuses and is based at the Brantford Campus.
Accountabilities Participation in Extensive Training Program
• Participate in a 6-week Laurier recruitment training, including gathering extensive knowledge of the university, public speaking and presentation practice and gaining extensive knowledge of the admission practices and procedures
• Responsible for communicating key points and addressing each student’s interest through presentations and individual contact

Implementation of visit plan and recruitment/conversion activities
• Co-ordinate timetable of all high school and college visits within a given demographic region (locally and internationally), arranging for travel and lodging as needed
• Travel independently, speaking to groups of prospective students, their parents and school administrators
• Participate in Open House and school tours and visits on campuses from Ontario and International schools
• Participate in recruitment fairs, research and participate in virtual recruitment fairs
• Project based work relating to prospective students

Communication
• Provide exceptional service to applicants via email and phone to ensure information needed to make key decisions is provided promptly and with a personal touch
• Provide communication support for larger team regarding the international email address
• Participate in the marketing, promotions and social media efforts of the International Recruitment & Admissions team
• Prepare and submit accurate monthly statistics and travel expenses
• Responsible for communicating key points and addressing each student’s interest through presentations and individual contact
Qualifications • Undergraduate degree, preferably from Wilfrid Laurier University with one year recruitment or three years related work experience
• Experience living or extensive travelling abroad in a cross cultural context
• Demonstrated exceptional writing skills that reflects a commitment to precision, customer service, and natural rapport building
• Knowledgeable of international educational systems and practices
• Demonstrated knowledge about and sensitivity to cultural issues and superior cross-cultural communication skills; ability to relate well to a variety of people and maintain trust with our target audience
• Understand and maintain sensitivity to dissemination of information about Laurier, particularly admissions cut-off average information as well as when dealing with information about prospective students
• Demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas:
dealing courteously and effectively with people; exercising good judgement and initiative; answering inquiries in a clear and concise manner
• Experience with public speaking and making effective presentations
• Effective interpersonal and public relations skills
• Ability to work independently and set priorities
• Excellent organizational skills
• Valid “G” driver’s license with proven good driving record
• Ability to work evenings and weekends
• Ability to be away from home for extended periods of time
• Experience using social media as a marketing tool within an organization
• Knowledge of the visa process
• Ability to speak and write fluently in another language is an asset. Arabic, Mandarin, Russian & Spanish languages are preferred.
• Knowledge of student visa process is an asset
Grade EX-F
Salary $51,733 - $57,820
