||Summer Camp Leader Positions

West Vancouver has a tradition in Summer Camp fun for over 25 years. We pride ourselves in our exceptional summer camp staff who create fun and caring environments that foster learning and growth for camp participants. We are currently accepting applications for the positions of Summer Camp Leaders.
||There are many camps offered throughout the District of West Vancouver, including Full Day, Overnight, Half Day, Preschool, and Specialty Camps. Some staff may be hired to work at a variety of camps throughout the summer. For information about each camp, please refer to the West Vancouver 2013 Summer Camps Leisure Guide, available in all West Vancouver Parks and Community Services facilities or online at www.westvancouver.ca.
Summer Camp Leaders are responsible for the daily camp implementation. The position may include but is not limited to the following: program development; budget & purchasing supplies; risk management; supervising volunteers and campers; and leading and creating activities and games for some camps, supervision of staff, reports, and evaluations may be required. The time commitment will vary for each camp and may require tasks and commitments before and after the camps.
||Summer Camp Leaders are required to possess current Standard First Aid (or equivalent), CPR-C certification, and High Five Training (Principles of Healthy Child Development); these certifications must be obtained by June 30, 2013.
The following certifications or qualifications will be considered an asset: Class 4 Driver’s Licence; Bronze Cross or NLS; OFA III / Advanced Wilderness First Aid; Coaching certification, NCCP, or equivalent; SuperHost/Worldhost, Babysitter Training, or other similar certifications; Teaching or instructing experience or certification.
All applicants must be available to attend an in-person group interview during the period of April 17 – 30, 2013, and successful candidates must be available the following paid training sessions:
June 1, 2013: West Van Community Day
June 24 - 25, 2013: Mandatory Staff Training – 2 days (Dates may change)
[TBA]: Camp meetings / Site preparation / prep hours
July 2 - August 30, 2013: Camp Dates

Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check. Please note that employment is dependent upon program registration.

|Hours of Work
||Hours and days of work vary depending upon position and ranges from 10 - 40 hours per week
|Compensation - Hourly
||$10.25 - $20 per hour depending upon experience and qualifications
