||The West Vancouver Memorial Library has an immediate opening for a permanent full-time Public Service Assistant.
||Reporting to the Web Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing service to patrons in the Community Computing Centre, teaching technology classes, booking meeting rooms, and providing assistance with equipment and multilingual collections located on that floor of the Library.
The preferred candidate will possess: excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; sound knowledge of and confidence with personal computers and programs (including MS Word), e-readers and other devices used to download ebooks and apps, photocopiers and, scanners; good skills and knowledge of internet searching, email services, social media, library catalogues, and an ability to instruct and assist patrons in the use of these. Knowledge of MS Excel, photo editing software, web applications, basic desktop publishing, or accessibility software would be considered an asset. The incumbent must enjoy assisting patrons on an individual basis, and be able to teach technology skills in a classroom or seminar setting. This position is ideally suited to someone with patience, who likes working with people of all ages, who can multi-task, who has excellent organizational skills, and who enjoys and has a ready willingness to find answers to technology related questions and problems.
||The successful candidate has completed: Secondary School graduation or equivalent, supplemented by courses in computer applications and/or Library Technician courses and sound related experience. Completion of a Library Technician diploma program or relevant post secondary courses would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
