Position Overview The West Vancouver Engineering & Transportation Division has an opening for a permanent, full-time Utilities Planning Engineer in the Engineering Department. The District is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to provide planning and project support to the District’s Utilities Engineering team.
Responsibilities The principal roles of this position will be to assist in the development and implementation of utility master plans and Integrated Stormwater Management Plans (ISMPs); the development and implementation of ongoing asset management programs; the development of short and long range coordinated capital programs; and the development and maintenance of policies and design criteria.

This position may also assist in the design, construction, budget preparation, and management of utilities capital projects; the organization and participation of stakeholder consultation processes; engineering utilities review for subdivision and major development permit applications; produce legislatively required submissions to senior governments; and resolve problems and complaints related to engineering matters.

The successful candidate will be directly involved with planning, design, construction, and operations staff within Engineering, as well as interacting regularly with staff from other departments, external agencies and organizations, and the public.
Requirements The preferred candidate will possess a Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of five years engineering experience with a focus on municipal water, sanitary and storm utilities planning, project and asset management; membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC; knowledge of environmental concerns and land use practices; BC Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle.

The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
