||Program Staff (Casual, Non-Union)

||West Vancouver Community Services Department has an immediate opening for casual non-union positions of Program Staff.
||Reporting to the Child and Family Program Coordinator, Program Staff are responsible for:
• Planning daily sports, active play, fine arts and other recreation activities;
• Assisting with the direct leadership in various recreation activities such as sport, active play, fine arts programs, after school programs, birthday parties and playground activities for children 2 - 12yrs from a variety of different backgrounds and abilities.
The preferred candidate will possess: exceptional problem solving skills, and interpersonal skills; experience/knowledge of appropriate recreational activities for children and youth (games, sports, arts and crafts, cooking etc); and the ability to communicate effectively to both children and adults of all ages in verbal and written form.
The following certifications will be considered an asset: Class 4 Driver’s Licence; Bronze Cross or NLS;; Coaching certification, NCCP, or equivalent; SuperHost/Worldhost, Babysitter Training, or other similar certifications; teaching or instructing experience or certification.
The successful candidate has completed: High School Diploma and continued education in a related field in Recreation at a recognized Community College or University including courses in child development, activity planning, leadership, and/or courses related to children within a recreation setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with coaching, camp counseling, leading Scouts or Guides, teaching, tutoring, or volunteering in recreation or childcare leadership environment would be considered an asset. The ability to speak languages other than English would be considered an asset. The successful candidate must be available be available to work a variety of shifts with varying hours including days, evenings and weekends. Current First Aid and CPR-C certification is required.
The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
