Position Overview The West Vancouver Police Department has an opening for a permanent, full-time Police Clerk II to provide confidential and responsible clerical, administrative, and secretarial support with the Criminal Investigation Section of the Department.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Staff Sergeant – Operations Support Section, this position consists of confidential and responsible operational clerical assistance and support within the West Vancouver Police Department. The primary duties for this position include:

• Preparing transcripts of recordings for disclosure to Crown Counsel and transcribing meeting minutes as assigned;
• Records management – maintaining and updating internal data and communications;
• Various clerical tasks including maintaining databases and lists, processing reports, data entry, modifications, diary dating appropriate files, flagging records, processing reports, preparing bound copies of reports, photocopying, and filing;
• Responding to internal and external enquiries;
• Other related duties as required.

The preferred candidate will possess thorough knowledge of business English, including spelling and punctuation; skill in the use of computers and Office XP; accurate typing at a speed of 60 words per minute; and considerable knowledge of Police Department office practices and procedures. The successful candidate will effectively deal with the public, staff and other professional agencies and must be adaptable to working in a high volume and changing environment.
Requirements The successful candidate must possess previous experience transcribing statements and have experience working with CPIC and PRIME in order to be considered for this position. The ideal candidate will also possess experience working with ACIIS, PIRS, CORNET, and RMS.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security background check and participate in a polygraph examination.
