Position Overview The West Vancouver Engineering & Transportation Division has an opening for a permanent, full-time Assistant Utilities Engineer in the Engineering Department. The District is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual primarily to provide planning and design assistance to the District’s Utilities Engineer.
Responsibilities This position will be responsible for assisting with the planning, design, construction, and project management of municipal infrastructure/services; assisting in the development of long range utility plans; assisting in the development of programs and plans related to ongoing Asset Management activities; assisting in the development of short and long range coordinated capital programs; participating in budget preparation for utilities capital projects; undertaking engineering utilities review for subdivision and major development permit applications; producing legislatively required submissions to senior governments; providing assistance in the maintenance and development of policies and design criteria, providing information and assistance to the public; and resolving problems and complaints related to engineering matters as needed.
Requirements The successful candidate will be directly involved with planning, design, construction, and operations staff within Engineering, as well as interacting regularly with staff from other departments, external agencies and organizations, and the public.

The preferred candidate will possess a Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of several years experience related to municipal engineering primarily focusing on utility planning and design activities; membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, knowledge of environmental concerns and land use practices; BC Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle. Knowledge and experience related to master water, sanitary, and stormwater planning would be beneficial.

The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
