The District of West Vancouver’s Financial Services Division has an immediate opening for a permanent, full-time Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will be responsible for providing advisory services, as well as “hands on” assistance on a wide range of financial, accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting issues to District managers and staff. The incumbent will assist the CFO with the planning, development, implementation, and coordination of the District’s budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting functions and processes. An ability to analyze and to exercise a considerable degree of sound, independent judgment in resolving problems related to financial services is crucial to success in this position. Vision-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills, the candidate will bring a proven ability to develop credibility and to work effectively with elected officials, employees, and external stakeholders.
Requirements The successful candidate will have completed a recognized professional accounting program or Commerce degree specializing in Accounting or Finance, and will possess membership or eligibility for membership as a Chartered Professional Accountant, plus considerable related experience in accounting, budgeting, auditing, computerized financial systems and supervisory experience. A BC Driver’s Licence and a personal vehicle are necessary for this position.
