Position Overview The West Vancouver Community Services is seeking a college or university student to act as a support worker to assist in activities in the West Vancouver Seniors’ Activity Centre.
Responsibilities Operating out of the Seniors’ Activity Centre (SAC) and reporting to the Outreach Coordinator and Seniors’ Centre Program Coordinator, this position will support special projects and events at the Seniors’ Centre including NS picnic, WV Community Day, and an Outdoor Recreation Event. Other duties will include electronic/physical) organization and storage of music, movies, files and equipment.
Requirements The preferred applicants will possess: experience working with seniors; knowledge of safe work procedures; the candidate will also be outgoing self motivated and creative individual with skill sin event planning and event execution. Candidate will be a strong team player and have the ability to work with digital filing systems and a variety of software applications.

The successful candidate must be currently enrolled in school and be returning to school in the Fall. They will possess valid Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification or equivalent. The following experience and education would be considered an asset: courses in Recreation leadership and Gerontology; and experience working or volunteering within a recreation or seniors’ centre setting.

Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check. This position is supported by Canada Summer Jobs and there may be additional requirements for this position associated with the criteria provided by the Canada Summer Jobs grant.
