| Position Overview |
The District of West Vancouver has an immediate opening for a casual Facilities Maintenance Worker I at the West Vancouver Civic Site. This is unskilled and semi-skilled work involving operation, routine maintenance and repair of ice making and swimming pool equipment and performing a variety of cleaning and custodial duties in a Community Services facility. |
| Responsibilities |
The incumbent may perform minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs not requiring trade certification, may operate and maintain the building heating system not requiring provincial heating certification, operate Direct Digital Control Systems; monitor geothermal heat pump and aquatic pool systems. |
| Requirements |
To be considered, applicants must have: completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by related technical courses at a vocational institute, plus some related experience in building maintenance operation and preferably a Pool Operator’s and/or Refrigeration Operator Certificate OR an equivalent combination of training and experience; a good knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in swimming pool, refrigeration, ice making operations, building maintenance and cleaning as well as plumbing, carpentry, electrical and heating equipment and services; good written and oral communication skills. A current BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence and BC Safety Authority Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate are required. Previous work in a recreation facility is preferred.
The successful candidates are required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
