||Adult Day Programs Assistant - Summer Student

VON Lunenburg County currently has an opening for Program Assistant on a temporary part-time basis for the summer. The Programs Assistant will develop, promote and participate in social and recreation activities for the clients of the Lunenburg Adult Day Program working in collaboration with the Adult Day coordinator, the student will assist in planning, implementing and evaluation therapeutice programs provided to clients. Other responsibilities will include providing clerical and administrative support in the Lunenburg Site Office.
Assists team in programming and development of monthly calendar of activities. * Develop and maintain open communication with clients and caregivers. * Works to maintain a safe and secure environment for clients, caregivers, volunteers and staff in accordance with VON standards and policies. * Research Montessori application to Adult Day activities and apply methods to existing activities. * Assist with administrative reporting/documentation and client progress notes.
Student in Nursing, Social work, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreation Leadership, Therapeutic Recreation or Gerontology. * Must be between the ages of fifteen and thirty and returning to post-secondary education in the fall. * Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. * Interest, Knowledge and experience working with frail and/or cognitively impaired adults. * Ability to work as a team member * Standard First Aid * Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher) * Must have access to a reliable vehicle and be able to work in both Lunenburg and Blockhouse.
