The Medical Administrative Assistant is accountable to the Office Manager and/or physicians for day-to-day reception and office administration within a multi-disciplinary clinical primary care setting. The Medical Administrative Assistant is expected to be supportive as a team member, communicate with internal (physicians, staff, independent health practitioners, etc.) and external stakeholders (patients, families, hospitals, laboratories, etc.) in professional manner and exhibit positive work and attendance performance. Duties are generally performed independently with issues referred to the Office Manager and/or physician associates.
Telephone and reception duties to include the scheduling of appointments for physicians and allied health team staff and/or other stakeholders as necessary;
Ensure appropriate patient registration, verbal and written communication, customer relations and support functions in the delivery of patient care;
Submit and reconcile appropriate electronic OHIP, WSIB and uninsured billings, submissions and reconciliations as required to facilitate full payment of accounts receivable in a timely manner;
Scan and indexing records and correspondence to patient files along with photocopying, faxing, sorting and distribution of incoming and outgoing correspondence; and,
Other duties as required or deemed necessary by the Office Manager and/or physician associates.
