||FILLED: Operations Supervisor Vancouver, BC 6096
The Operations Supervisor will lead employees in the timely and damage-free pick up and delivery of customer freight, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction while observing company and regulatory policies and procedures. The successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of LTL freight movements and be well-versed in DOT regulations. Candidates must be flexible with their hours. Expect the shift start time for this role to be 2AM.
Oversee staff, ensuring customers’ freight is delivered and picked-up in a timely and damage-free manner
Schedule staff to meet productivity requirements
Provide training to employees and monitor their performance
Remain available to all areas of the dock and inside trailers, both at the dock or in the yard
Communicate with dispatch at various terminals and dock employees to coordinate the movement of trailers and freight
Develop a plan for distributing break loads to achieve cut time goals, ensuring cut time compliance
Monitor and analyze all opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies
Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting
Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information and setting appointments
Perform related administrative functions such as printing delivery receipts, manifest shipments on a trailer, billing freight bills, trace shipments, etc.
Provide clean and safe working condition of the facility and equipment
Communicate with account management staff to ensure customer and company needs are met
Identify freight moving at incorrect weight and classification
Ensure all OS&D is identified and processed correctly
Conduct pre-shift meetings; implement and monitor company policies
Assist other Supervisors as needed
||SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to initiative, integrity, strong work ethic and being a team player:
Minimum of three years Transportation supervisory experience
Post-Secondary education preferred
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the LTL industry, including DOT rules and regulations
Electric forklift certification is an asset
Must be able to hear at a level which would allow recognition of safety devices such as horns, backup signals, etc.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Able to multi-task and prioritize activities in a pressure-filled environment
Proficient in the use of MS Office
