Title Customs Brokerage Customer Service/Inside Sales Manager Port Huron, MI 6038
Overview The Customs Brokerage Customer Service/Inside Sales Manager will be responsible for developing strong customer relationships, increasing business and creating value, for client partners. The successful candidate will lead a small team of Customs staff and have experience performing customer service and inside sales activities within a Customs Brokerage or Freight Forwarding environment. The incumbent will be tasked with creating and executing annual account strategies, maintaining activity records, and meeting sales targets.

Responsibilities Maintain and enhance business relationship with client and related companies
Manage assigned staff
Ensure that account is managed efficiently producing desired results (achieving desired KPI)
Main point of strategic contact with client
Conduct needs assessment and identify opportunities for solutions
Develop a strategic customer plan ensuring that all relevant company operational departments are considered
Improve and automate business processes to gain operational efficiencies
Proactively service client and be aware of potential for new opportunities to introduce additional services
Negotiate pricing and contract terms
Work with colleagues and other departments to ensure communication of customer’s issues
Manage database in conjunction with Canadian and US customs brokerage operations
Ensure timely completion of NAFTAs including verification, solicitation and classification
Manage the work flow, technology and tools for the client’s accounts
Schedule and monitor existing work to ensure timely and accurate completion
Expand relationship with this flagship customer

Requirements US Licensed Customs Broker
Post-secondary education
A minimum of 5 years progressive account management experience within customs brokerage and/or logistics
Must be able to travel within Canada and the US
Driven and self-motivated to achieve success
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with business partners and clients
Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
General knowledge of database management and EDI protocols
Excellent presentation skills
Knowledge of customs consulting processes and automated tools with respect to NAFTA and Classification
