Title FILLED - Operations Manager Calgary, AB 6002
Overview The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the sorting and delivery of freight. The successful candidate will provide direction to teams in two facilities in Calgary and Edmonton respectively, ensuring that KPIs and performance objectives are met. The Regional Operations Manager must be available for travel between facilities approximately 25% of the time. Knowledge of Customs Brokerage and FAA regulations is an asset. Previous management experience in a unionized environment is also preferred.

Responsibilities Manage teams in multiple facilities to meet and exceed established performance targets in the sorting and delivery of freight
Responsible for the tracking and tracing, dispatch and claims activities
Profit and loss responsibility for regional Operations, ensuring branch financial targets are met
Provide leadership in accordance with Collective Agreement
Manage all local Human Resources issues; recruit and develop staff
Ensure staff compliance with established Company standards, policies and procedures, including work place conduct, OH&S, TDG, WCB, etc.
Provide support to sales team, assisting in the maintenance and growth of existing and new accounts
Prepare service centre profit plan, and submit for approval and execution
Assist in the development of the long & short range service centre objectives and plans for attainment
Prepare required reports and statistics for senior executive team
Implement continuous improvement initiatives
Responsible for internal and external customer satisfaction
Remain current on market conditions and activities of current and potential competitors
Travel between facilities within assigned region

Requirements Minimum 5 years Transportation Operations management experience
University degree (in appropriate discipline) preferred
Knowledge of Customs Brokerage and FAA regulations is an asset
General accounting, finance & administration experience with previous P&L responsibility
Prior union management experience
Demonstrated experience implementing quality/ process improvement initiatives
Experience recruiting and developing talent
Demonstrated analysis & problem solving skills
Superior negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks/priorities.
Proficient in the use of MS Office; advanced MS Excel user
