Title Intermodal Coordinator SWO, ON 7027
Overview POSITION SUMMARY:

Our client is a leading transportation company who is currently seeking an Intermodal Coordinator to add to their team located in Southwestern Ontario. Responsibilities include effectively coordinating the movement of freight using different modes of transportation including their own equipment, leased equipment, partner carriers and railroads in order to provide consistent service to the client’s large customer base. The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Responsibilities DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 Develop strong relationships with quality intermodal carriers
 Monitor and analyze the market and traffic lanes serviced by intermodal carriers to determine availability of equipment
 Effectively negotiate rates with carriers in order to remain competitive in the market while maintaining an acceptable profit margin
 Manage the loaded and empty drayage movement of containers and chassis
 Develop new business as opportunities arise
 Monitor freight movement and update status of all intermodal shipments in the various transportation management systems
 Communicate freight orders to partner carriers
 Assist with driver & partner carrier inquiries
 Work with Customer Service to promptly advise of any impending service failures
 Constantly review work processes and provide suggestions for improvement
 Related duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Requirements SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to initiative, integrity, strong work ethic and being a team player:
 Positive attitude with advanced knowledge of intermodal, truckload, and LTL carriers and pricing
 Current knowledge of intermodal providers internet based tracking, billing and reservations tools
 Effective geographical knowledge of North America and rail network/trucking market
 Make effective and timely decisions
 Ability to analyze data/situations and recognize developing trends or possible problem areas
 Learn rates and the rate making process and build an in depth knowledge of the domestic and international market
 Strong attention to detail, organizational and planning skills
 Effective math, computer and problem solving skills
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral, written and listening)
