Position Overview
ALL applicants must apply ONLINE no later than March 1st, 2013 to be considered.
Applicants will be interviewed and then selected for non-bargaining unit positions based on the following criteria:
  • Positive past experience with Toromont CAT (if applicable)
  • General skills and work experience
  • Personal interest and character
  • Academic qualifications
As per our collective agreement, candidates not placed in other positions are placed in a lottery pool where a Union Representative will select candidates by random draw. Final placement of successful candidates is at the discretion of the Human Resources Department.
Candidates with completed on-line applications received prior to the deadline will be selected for an interview.  Human Resources will interview all qualified candidates to discuss their career aspirations.  At this time, proof of Post-Secondary enrollment will be required and references will be verified.  If a student falsifies information, fails to provide proof of enrollment or is unable to participate in their scheduled interview without providing a valid reason within 48 hours will be considered ineligible for employment. 
All candidates who have been interviewed will be contacted once decisions have been made.  Successful candidates and Hiring Managers will be informed of the job placement and start dates. The summer student employment term will end on Friday August 30th, 2013.

Positions will be assigned for candidates based on the appropriate selection criteria. Students will not be placed in position with direct reporting relationships to any relative. 
Key Accountabilities ELIGIBILITY
  • Full-time Post-Secondary student currently enrolled in an accredited College/University (must provide proof of enrolment upon request).
  • Have submitted an online application by the specified deadline.
All our Summer Students will participate in a performance review.  Any unsatisfactory performance will be addressed accordingly and may result in ineligibility for employment in subsequent career opportunities. We expect that all candidates will behave in a professional manner during their employment with Toromont and will exhibit the following:
