Position Manager, Financial Reporting and Planning

Position Overview
Our Manager, Financial Reporting and Planning will manage all internal and external reporting functions, annual business plans and reforecasting, communication analysis and business processes while leading a team of finance professionals in process improvement.

Key Accountabilities
  • Oversee consolidation process and support the external audit process
  • Prepare and review financial statements and notes
  • Draft Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A)
  • Participate in the preparation of the Annual Report
  • Prepare and/or oversee Audit Committee presentation materials
  • Prepare and direct analysis and reporting of financial results for Toromont Cat Dealership
  • Develop and enhance existing reports to ensure timely and effective communications
  • Manage process including timelines, systems and other requirements
  • Review business plans/reforecasts submitted by business units/branches and groups to ensure completeness and reasonability of plans
  • Oversee plan documentation for Senior Management and Board
  • Manage process including timelines, systems and other requirements
  • Oversee plan documentation for Senior Management and accounting process for Corporate entities
  • Direct periodic reporting to Caterpillar
  • Participate in acquisition analysis and other special projects and analysis on an adhoc basis
  • Provide leadership, coach and mentor team through training and development plans, updates
  • Evaluate team performance informally throughout the year and formally annually
  • Ensure proper back-up for all positions
  • Participate in safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors and practices at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy/Program(s) and best practices
Key Qualifications
  • University Degree in Business or related discipline and an Accounting Designation (CPA-CA required)
  • 3 - 5 years  post-qualification experience in the industry
  • Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with customers and all levels of employees
  • Proven leadership, coaching, mentoring and people development skills
  • Solid business acumen with the understanding of business principles
  • Self-directed and experienced with planning, forecasting and problem solving
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Solid understanding of Caterpillar and Toromont operating policies and procedures
  • Computer literate with high proficiencies in Microsoft Applications
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours as required to support business needs
