Title Engineering Assistant 2 (Water Operations)
Job Status Full Time Regular
Overview

This is an intermediate technical and administrative position that provides support and assistance to senior staff in administrative responsibilities, and performs moderately complex technical work related to the completion of a variety of City engineering activities and projects specifically related to the City’s water system operation and infrastructure management. 

 

Scope

You will perform technical duties in project management, planning, reporting, coordination, environmental monitoring and cost control. Work will include reviewing designs and contracts prepared by consultants, processing engineering applications, performing field inspections, responding to inquiries from staff, contractors, consultants and the public plus the collection and analysis of data.
 

Requirements

The successful candidate must have superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; a sound knowledge and ability to operate computer equipment and software as applied to the work performed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Must possess the ability to communicate and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups including the general public, internal municipal staff and elected officials, and external private and government agencies.

 

Completion of a one-year certificate in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution with 3 years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability or an equivalent combination of related training and experience;
OR
Completion of a two year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution with exposure to relevant engineering work.

 

Experience working in engineering operations maintenance and construction is considered an asset.

 

Applicants must have a valid BC Driver’s license.

Note Effective fall 2013, City Hall will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located in North Surrey (King George and 104th area).
