Title Community Services Coordinator 2 - Curator of Exhibitions & Programs

Position Overview The Historic Stewart Farm is an 1894 historic site in Surrey with eight designated heritage buildings including a farmhouse, pole barn, root cellar and woodshed. The Stewart Farm offers exhibitions, guided tours, public and school programs, special events and demonstrations related to the pioneering and early agricultural history of the City of Surrey. 
Responsibilities The Curator of Exhibitions and Programs provides site leadership through advanced level curatorial work to maintain and develop exhibitions, heritage gardens, program services and artifact collections. The position researches, develops and supervises the implementation of a wide range of heritage programs and services that enable the public to experience the Stewart Farm site. Working with a team of program and interpretive staff and volunteers, the Curator of Exhibitions and Programs leads the practice of community development to showcase a unique heritage site located within Elgin Heritage Park in South Surrey.   Strong leadership, public relations and communication skills are vital in this role.
Minimum Requirements
The successful applicant will possess highly developed skills in written communications and report writing, experience working with boards and committees, and be committed to community development. Experience in budget preparation, grant writing, administration, staff supervision, volunteer co-ordination and creative marketing is required.
 
The successful candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university program in a related discipline and have 3 - 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the development and delivery of cultural programs including cultural facility management. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Candidates must have technical expertise applicable to the specific role.

Note Effective fall 2013, City Hall will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located in North Surrey (King George and 104th area). Surrey's New City Hall (NCH) is part of the Build Surrey program, designed to make Surrey an even more exciting place to live and work, and to position the city for growth over the next decade. NCH will act as a catalyst to stimulate job creation in the city and will be easily accessible to residents and businesses.
