Overview
It’s no secret that the City of Surrey is growing at a rapid rate. With over 1000 new residents a month coming to live in this vibrant City, the opportunities are immense in our Transportation Division. The Transportation and Land Development Specialist is a key player in identifying and communicating to developers, consultants and internal staff, the transportation requirements for the many development applications received by the City.  You will also add your skills and expertise to exciting multimodal transportation plans, including rapid transit, cycling and road projects.  We are looking to add you to our team of passionate, knowledgeable, and innovative multidisciplinary professionals. Scope
  • As one of our experts in the field, you will be expected to have an in-depth knowledge of urban transportation planning allied with a track record of applying this in a practical and detailed way to development applications through the engineering review and requirements process. Being part of a small multidisciplinary team, you will also help shape policies, practices, and procedures across the full range of transportation services.
  • You will use your customer relationship and communication skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stake holders, including developers, consultants, and internal staff.
  • You will feel comfortable wearing multiple hats and switching gears to constantly changing priorities.
  • Public engagement and customer service are critical. The City of Surrey takes great pride in delivering top notch service to our tax payers and internal customers.

Requirements
To be considered you will have a minimum of a two-year diploma in a related discipline (i.e. Civil Engineering Technology, Planning) and extensive experience in Transportation and/or Land Development. As a leader, supervisory experience is required. A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record is a must.  

Note Effective February 2014, City Hall will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located in North Surrey (King George and 104th area). Surrey's New City Hall (NCH) is part of the Build Surrey program, designed to make Surrey an even more exciting place to live and work, and to position the city for growth over the next decade. NCH will act as a catalyst to stimulate job creation in the city and will be easily accessible to residents and businesses.
