Title Outdoor Recreation Assistant Instructors
Overview The City of Surrey’s Community & Leisure Services Division provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and is currently looking for Lead and Assistant Guides with the following activities.
- Mountain Biking
- Hiking
- Kayaking
Scope This opportunity requires outgoing and responsible individuals, with strong leadership and teaching skills in a recreational environment. The position includes guiding or instructing tours at a beginner to intermediate level. Typical tours involve the supervision and instruction of 8 to 20 participants in a wilderness setting. You will ensure a safe and fun atmosphere for all of the participants.
Requirements The successful individuals must have strong organizational skills and must work well with limited supervision and in a team environment. This position also requires a thorough knowledge and ability to coach people of various levels, as well as effective oral and written communication skills and extensive experience in this area. As well, the successful candidates must possess a CPR “C” certificate. An Unrestricted Class 4 Drivers License (for hiking only), a sea kayaking certification (for kayaking) and Wilderness First Aid certificate an asset.
