Title Breath Test Instruments Technician
Job Status Temporary
Overview The Breath Test Instruments Technician reports to the Administrative Services Manager and is responsible for calibrating breath testing instruments, performing upkeep and maintenance of these instruments, and completing documentation related to the work.
Scope Typical duties include calibrating breath testing instruments at Detachment and District Policing Offices, including but not limited to DataMaster and other approved screening devices. You will perform maintenance checks to ensure operational readiness of breath testing instruments; order, deliver and maintain supplies; and complete tickets, logs and other documentation related to the work. The successful candidate will also administer exams and practical tests to support the member certification process, and notify members of clerical issues and/or errors. You will respond to internal and external inquiries also liaise with vendors and external technicians to meet servicing needs as well as prepare and arrange transportation of breath testing instruments when servicing and/or repairs are required.
Requirements
Qualified applicants will have completed a current ASD Calibrator’s course including completion of “Certificate of a Qualified ASD Calibrator” for both dry gas calibrations and wet bath re-calibrations, and completion of current DataMaster Supervisor Training Program. A minimum of three years recent experience working with breath testing instruments and working in a policing environment is required. This position requires completing and maintaining the relevant level of RCMP Security Clearance, along with a valid Driver’s License and safe driving history.
