Title Community Services Assistant 2 - Out of School Care Instructors

Overview The Out of School Care Instructors are responsible for carrying out a variety of educational, recreational and cultural programming duties related to planning, developing, facilitating and implementing courses for school-aged children (six to twelve years old). Working with groups of children, the Out of School Care Instructors will conduct individual and/or group activities to encourage learning and develop social interaction skills in areas such as sports, arts & crafts, music, dance, and cooking.

You will promote positive social experiences; respect for others and self-sufficiency and provide experiences and play materials that actively promotes diversity. You will be responsible for the arrangement, appearance and learning environment of the classroom including checking that activity areas, toys and equipment are safe and sanitary and setting up and tidying up of activity area, and will ensure the safety and general well being of the children at all times. In this capacity, you will be expected to promote and enhance creative ideas in all program areas



Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by 1 year of experience in community service work or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.


A valid First Aid certificate and CPR certificate are required.

Applicants should have a comprehensive understanding of activities; particularly in the areas of artistic and social expression, crafts, hobbies, sports and social development.


Note Effective fall 2013, City Hall will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located in North Surrey (King George and 104th area). Surrey's New City Hall (NCH) is part of the Build Surrey program, designed to make Surrey an even more exciting place to live and work, and to position the city for growth over the next decade. NCH will act as a catalyst to stimulate job creation in the city and will be easily accessible to residents and businesses.
