Title Engineering Assistant 2 (Development Services)

Overview

Working in the Land Development Division, this is intermediate technical and administrative position provides support and assistance to senior staff in administrative responsibilities, and performs moderately complex technical work related to the completion of a variety of City engineering activities and projects specifically related to land development. Responsibilities include: preparing designs, detail drawings, specifications and project estimates, performing field inspections, and reviewing outsourcing service agreements.

Scope Applicants must possess the ability to communicate and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups including the general public, internal municipal staff and elected officials and external private and government agencies.
Requirements The successful completion of a one-year certificate in a related field of Engineering Technology is required supplemented by a minimum of three years of engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability or an equivalent combination of related training and experience; OR a completion of a two year diploma in a related field of Engineering Technology relevant to the position. Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
Note Effective February 2014, City Hall will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located in North Surrey (King George and 104th area). Surrey's New City Hall (NCH) is part of the Build Surrey program, designed to make Surrey an even more exciting place to live and work, and to position the city for growth over the next decade. NCH will act as a catalyst to stimulate job creation in the city and will be easily accessible to residents and businesses.
