Overview

In the City of Surrey’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, it takes a great deal of commitment, an outgoing positive attitude, a sense of fun and a whole lot of organizational ability to ‘fit’ in our recreation services team!

 

Scope

This position would provide high quality instruction for ice hockey development programs within the City of Surrey Arena Operations.  You would develop and instruct ice hockey programs for participants of all ages and abilities. These courses include:

 

• Powerskating Level 1
• Powerskating Development
• Children’s Fun Hockey
• Tots Fun Hockey
• COED Adult Learn to Play – levels 1 and 2
• Womens’ Learn to Play
• Sledge Hockey

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a high energy, enthusiastic approach to their work and enjoy the chance to be part of a team that values leadership and organizational talents. You must have excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

 

Candidates must have completed Grade 12 and a strong background in hockey and a genuine interest in teaching hockey skills to all ages.  Teaching /Instructing experience is an asset.  You must have Current Emergency First Aid/CPR with AED certificate and a valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving history. Hockey Canada Coaching Stream or NCCP accreditation is an asset. 

This position requires the completion of a criminal records check.

Note Effective fall 2013, City Hall will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located in North Surrey (King George and 104th area). Surrey's New City Hall (NCH) is part of the Build Surrey program, designed to make Surrey an even more exciting place to live and work, and to position the city for growth over the next decade. NCH will act as a catalyst to stimulate job creation in the city and will be easily accessible to residents and businesses.
