Reporting to the Chair , School of Aviation and located at the Peterborough campus the position is responsible for the administering and maintaining of the Safety Management System (SMS) data.
• Administer and maintain the SMS data and records and ensure timely collection of all safety incidents and distribution of information. • Develop, maintain and continuously improve the SMS database and safety reporting forms. • Manage SMS information proactively and in accordance with College policies and procedures and excellent documentation management. • Maintain SMS user training programs including development, updates, follow up and issuance of certificates. • Develop reports, trend analysis and presentations as requested. • Coordinate SMS safety meetings including agenda preparation, documentation gathering and minute taking. • Communicate and coordinate effectively with various departments to ensure the system performs to standards. • Maintain various communication requirements including assisting with revision of manuals, records management, safety information on Safety Boards and monitor and disseminate regulatory updates applicable to the College. • Assist in marketing SMS throughout the Seneca College and the School of Aviation to build a positive safety culture. • Other duties as assigned including support as needed to the Safety and Quality Manager.
• Minimum of a three (3) year diploma/degree in Information Technology, Safety Management System or a related field. If in another field of study, state how the education is related. • Minimum of 1 year experience in database administration • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Access). • Additional training in Safety Management database courses would be an asset. • Able to conduct and present statistical analysis of information. • Familiar with conducting audits, developing audit reports and monitoring corrective actions. • Familiar with aviation and aviation terminology, Transport Canada Document SUR001 and the Canadian Aviation Regulations, and SMS Pro database an asset. • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to interact effectively with multi-cultural/racial/able students, staff and the public are required.
37.5 hours (overtime as required). Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
