Senior PeopleSoft Systems Administrator (Contract)

The Senior PeopleSoft Systems Administrator (SA) is responsible for administering the technical aspects of the implementation, development, integration, and on-going support of the college’s production support systems. This includes general system administration, advisement and support, system development, training, creating and maintaining documentation and usage statistics for these systems. Participates in the planning and defining of hardware / software architecture upgrades. Works with technical and academic staff to ensure application integrations are effectively deployed. Continuously evaluates the ERP system performance, trouble shoots technical issues taking corrective action, and proactively plans scheduled services maintenance.
• Validation of all installation requests or submissions for application deployment to ensure completeness of the installation package and that it complies with configuration management standards definition. • Takes charge of the installation and coordinates activities with the requestors. Reviews installation plans prior to execution and reviews the installation results and post install verification tests with the requestor to ensure that the installation was successful. • Problem and resolution management: Involved with issues surrounding the production services area. Active participant in the analysis of problems, impact analysis and resolving actions. • Installation, testing and migration of ERP environment, and bundled upgrades/fixes. Reviews and evaluates the monitor reports supplied by the data centre to ensure that production applications performance continues to operate within the acceptable limits. Provide thorough technical expertise, thoughtful leadership, and effective persuasion to peers and junior staff • Participating in assigned projects, evaluates the required assigned tasks and submits the estimate to complete the effort. • The administrator demonstrates advanced techniques within the application to solve issues that clients or ITS resources may not be able to address through a general understanding of the application. Provides training services according to needs. • Plans for the effective use of applications. Matches user needs with product functionality. Recommends and implements policies and procedures to integrate the application within the college technical and administrative infrastructure. • Maintains ERP system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor. • Ensures the application server, process scheduler and web server availability. • Monitor the job and process summary and details for the process scheduler server queues related to the PeopleSoft application database • Verify current patch levels and apply required patches for PeopleSoft Application • Coordinate communications and reviews with the appropriate resources. • Evaluation of software update notices. In relation to production applications, planning scheduled updates, including impact analysis, recovery planning and testing. • Other tasks as assigned
• Minimum completed three (3) year diploma/degree and technical training for specific computer related equipment or application and systems support. • 8 years’ experience in a similar role, including a minimum 2 years’ experience in a PeopleSoft Systems Administrator role. • Demonstrated proficiency in the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems. • Project management experience. • Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP system • Software support methods that would be adaptable to the changing environment • Advanced skills to operate and manipulate systems software, create/modify programs/scripts and perform systems management functions • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills • Adaptation of third-party tools into existing environment • Relevant technology certifications an asset. • Experience with LDAP and single sign-on(SSO) technologies for enterprise authentication and authorization • A high degree of understanding of relational databases and related tools and utilities. • A good knowledge and experience in physical and logical database design. Ability to work independently and under pressure to solve complex problems. • Ability to apply complex work on complex technology based assignments • Application development methodology knowledge to facilitate working with Enterprise Solutions programmers. • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to deal with management, development teams, vendors and system administrators. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with an effective approach in client communications • Knowledge and experience of the software development lifecycle and the project management lifecycle with excellent organizational and time management skills
Hourly Wage Rate
Payband K: Start rate $37.71 per hour, Maximum rate $43.72 per hour
Weekly Hours of Work
40 hours per week: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (overtime as required)
