Professor, School of Aviation and Flight Technology
Reporting to the Chair, School of Aviation & Flight Technology, and located at the new Peterborough Campus, the Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students through designing, revising and delivering curricula. The Professor will also be responsible for developing subject and program objectives, defining and evaluating learning outcomes and developing/selecting appropriate learning materials for the Bachelor of Aviation Technology program. The Professor will teach subjects in his/her areas of expertise, provide academic and career counseling to students and evaluate student performance. The Professor will participate in the work of curriculum, program advisory and other committees through consultation with business and industry representatives. The Professor will be responsible to support student recruitment, student retention and industry outreach.
The Professor will be responsible for faculty oversight, teaching all levels of flight instruction. The Professor may also be called upon to contribute to other areas of activity ancillary to the academic programs of the School, including: carrying out scheduled preparatory ground instruction, flight and simulator instruction and evaluating student progress; consulting with aviation coordinators regarding student progress and instructional effectiveness; assisting with program review; carrying out Duty Instructor duties; and, ground teaching.
• A valid Transport Canada ATP License. • Minimum 10 years aviation/flight experience, 1000 hours multi engine PIC time, Pilot Examiner/ACP/Military ICP experience. • Minimum 5 years management/industry experience managing a flight line staff and/or faculty of 25 or more. • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of professional aviation industry and or military aviation experience is required. • The successful candidate must be available to attend College events evenings and weekends. • Excellent communication and human relation skills are essential to interact effectively with the College’s multi-cultural/racial/able student and staff population, as is an understanding of and commitment to education equity. • The ability to convey the conceptual and practical applications of aviation subjects to students, respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and individual learning styles is necessary. • Must be able to provide leadership and work independently and as a team player.
