Position Overview Reporting to, and with direction of the i3 Project Management Office, the Senior Business Analyst (SBA) provides subject matter expertise to cross functional business process and systems proficiency in relation to the ERP Project and legacy college business activity. The SBA interactively works with and supports the project technology team, service provider, and business stakeholders to define the current and planned business processes, detailing the needs assessment and translating business requirements into measurable technology specifications.
As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the SBA supports the project through complex business process analysis, identifies and evaluates processes for improvement opportunities and maps new cross functional processes, prioritizes and catalogues business requirements. With the ability to identify competing interests, the SBA is able to reach a balanced agreement with stakeholders.
As leader of the business analysis team, is responsible for the monitoring and validation of technology installation results. The SBA coordinates with the team to plan and assign work, track business requirements catalogued within the traceability matrix to ensure completeness and meets define quality requirements in all stages of development from defined business need to the point of technology deployment.
The Senior Business Analyst demonstrates a clear understanding of current Legacy Business Applications and ERP Systems, along with the inter-connectivity in relation to the college environment. Areas include but are not limited to “Finance, HRIS, SIS, and CRM applications” within Information Technology architecture.
The SBA is self-motivated, results driven and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks in a collaborative team environment. Manages the performance of resources assigned to them.
Responsibilities • Collaborates with business units to oversee operational ERP requirements. Identifies documents and recommends system and business process improvements involving complex IT and business process issues.
• As the Liaison, interacts with internal and external business stakeholders to plan process definition collecting efforts that will identify system changes to current and future needs.
• Collaborates and facilitates with business owners, stakeholders and system users to maximize the effectiveness of adopting the new systems and system changes.
• Performs complex problem diagnosis, detailed analysis and complete investigation of system failures, issues and provide recommendations on corrective actions.
• Provides expert advice, direction and guidance on information systems support of existing legacy systems and the ERP project functionality.
• Business requirements are cataloged, controlled and tracked within the Business requirements traceability matrix. Business Analysts are responsible for recording information assigned to them. The SBA is responsible for evaluating information and ensuring that the matrix is current and accurate.
• Reviews and edits business requirements, processes and recommendations to meet user needs and system requirements. Ensures documentation contain measureable clarity.
• Completes detailed and complex system functional specifications for reports, interfaces, conversions, modifications, customizations and extensions.
• Documents and informs Project Management of information that may identify challenges to project schedules, missed project deliverables, incomplete tasks or inaccurate results.
Qualifications • A Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or Business Administration (Management Information Systems).
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience with ERP implementations in the public and private sector.
• Experience in business analysis and the preparation and management of budgets.
• Proven project management skillsets; ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex projects.
• Proven team-building skillsets with technical and non-technical staff
• Knowledge of ERP systems (i.e., SAP, PeopleSoft, etc.)
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills are essential to interact with the College’s multi-cultural/racial/able staff, students and the public and to promote student life.
