Reporting to the Manager, Media Production, the incumbent has overall accountability for maintaining Seneca’s website, driving targeted traffic there and ensuring that, once there, site visitors are encouraged and enabled to achieve their information or action objectives. The Webmaster will help the organization maximize its online impact, providing leadership & support, corporately and to individual business units and schools to enhance our online presence, interactive campaigns and offline-to-web campaigns. The incumbent will play the key role in managing and maximizing Seneca’s online impact by planning, implementing and measuring on-going initiatives on the website and leveraging search engine marketing tools—all in support of Seneca’s enrolment and overall strategic objectives.
The Webmaster often serves as the primary point of contact between internal clients and other members of the Marketing and Advancement department and therefore must establish and nurture relationship s with clients through: exceptional service; delivery of specific tactics; the timely execution of integrated communications programs that reflect Seneca’s brand character.
The incumbent will expertly liaise with Information Technology Services for technical support required to achieve defined goals. The Webmaster works with other Marketing and Advancement functions to ensure cost-effective and timely execution of integrated communications programs that reflect Seneca’s brand character.
The Webmaster possesses and continuously updates his/her working knowledge of internet tools and practices, including effective website design and management, search engine optimization, search engine marketing/online advertising and social media tools. The incumbent is able to create comprehensive strategies, which integrate any or all of these best practices and disciplines.
• Conceptualizes and executes web strategies and solutions that support College objectives and improve online user experience. • Is accountable for the on-going development and maintenance of the Seneca website, including its design, navigation, functionality and format. • Monitors website performance and produces clear and actionable reports and recommendations against strategic goals. • Makes continuous efforts to optimize website for overall user experience and maximized applicant conversion by implementing on-going testing of changes in navigation, graphics and copy. • Ensures that best practices for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are followed, understood and employed on the website and its linkages to other sites. • Ensures website support for offline marketing initiatives that drive-to-web, including establishing and tracking of unique and appropriate URLs/landing pages. • Plays a lead role in the on-going maintenance and management of the OpenCms content management system. • Serves as a senior corporate adviser, working closely with a wide range of College and external clients to develop effective online strategies ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness of implementations. • Monitors corporate policy related to all aspects of website for the College, such as ensuring adherence to corporate visual standards, and marketing objectives; and fulfilling contractual and other obligations according to College and ministry guidelines and relevant association memberships. • Researches user trends and information technology related to website content, function and performance, including hardware and software advances and human resource needs. • Ensures that all initiatives and tactics are delivered on time, to budget, while meeting exact quality standards. • Develops and manages project plans and schedules/milestones/deadlines for content delivery. • Co-ordinates with other team members and clients to ensure successful completion. • Assesses web deliverables and addresses navigational issues and user experience. • Incorporates technical and business considerations into web plans, such as budgets, equipment and performance requirements, along with addressing accessibility and privacy concerns. • Works with a large number of diverse internal partners to address online presence and promotional needs. • Advises on all matters of online communication and advertising, offering technical information from a strategic perspective consistent with marketing and communications objectives and processes.
• A three-year diploma/degree in Web Development or Design, or a related field. • A minimum five years’ experience in website design implementing SEM and SEO principles and social media tools; Web analytics and metrics management; Online business communication in a variety of styles; Client service and project management, including timelines, deliverables, budgets and personnel relationships. • Experience working with a content-management system, preferably OpenCms. Excellent customer service, negotiating and problem solving skills. • Ability to interact with the College’s multi-cultural/racial/able staff, clients and public.
35 hours (overtime as required). Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
