Professor, School of Information & Communications Technology
Faculty of Applied Sciences and Engineering Technology
Reporting to the Co-Chair, School of Information & Communications Technology, the Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership, for developing an effective learning environment for students, including internet-based learning and alternate modes of learning, through designing, revising and delivering curricula. The Professor will also be responsible for developing subject and program objectives as well as defining and evaluating student learning outcomes.
The Professor will contribute to other areas of activity ancillary to the academic programs of the School, such as secondary school liaison and outreach. The Professor will be able and willing to take a lead in activities that enrich the learning experience of students, such as applied research, will have a track record of research in industry or academe or academia, and will establish and/or maintain strong industry links and partnerships in applied research.
The Professor will participate in development and teaching of a variety of subjects including: cryptography & encryption, computer & network security, forensics, emergent technologies, wireless & mobile data communications security, privacy, penetration testing, intrusion detection, malware analysis, and physical security.
• A Doctorate in Computer Science or Information Technology or another relevant discipline is required for this teaching position. • Solid knowledge of information security principles and practices is required for this position. • Three to five years’ relevant professional experience is preferred. • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is desirable. • Experience with software and security architectures. • Solid knowledge of identifying risk and opportunities of vulnerabilities in network. • Solid knowledge of creating and monitoring compliance with information security policies and procedures. • Excellent presentation, communication and human relation skills to interact effectively with the College’s multi-cultural/racial/able staff and student population is requisite, as is an understanding of and commitment to equity in education. • The following are essential: ability to convey conceptual and practical aspects of subjects to students, while respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and individual learning styles; industry contact and involvement; and a commitment to a team approach for problem solving and conflict resolution.
