||Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Advisor assists and supports in the delivery of corporate human resource programs, policies and initiatives. The Human Resource Advisor delivers support in a manner consistent with the company’s client centered philosophy, which recognizes its staff, managers, residents, families and suppliers as its customers.
1.0 Supports the Director of Human Resources in the areas of employee appreciation/recognition and employee wellness.
2.0 Supports the Director of Human Resources in areas of Labour and Employee Relations. This includes grievance administration, collective agreement interpretation and support during collective bargaining. Provide contract language interpretation and application.
3.0 Assists facilities maintain compliance with internal human resource policies and practices, as well as legislation as it relates to the human resource function (including the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code and Workers Compensation Act).
4.0 Assists with a variety of Human Resource initiatives including leadership training and development, Accreditation, performance management and employee recognition programs.
5.0 Provide HR service through coaching, guidance and advice to leaders regarding best practices in people management techniques, and employee engagement.
6.0 Labour and Employee Relations;
6.1 Provides managers with the interpretation and application of various collective agreements
6.2 Assists managers in preparing alternatives to resolve disputes and grievances including developing and compiling documentation, reviewing employee personnel files and making recommendations.
6.3 Conducts research to support grievances and arbitrations.
6.4 Supports collective bargaining including conducting market research data; costing proposals and maintaining bargaining files and notes.
6.5 Assists Director in reviewing labour and employee implications of mergers and acquisitions.
7.0 Payroll and Benefits;
7.1 Support the payroll and benefit function as required
7.2 Assist with salary survey projects and annual company wide compensation reviews
8.0 Training and Development;
8.1 Assist with development and ongoing coordination of facility in-house training programs, liaising with community partners to achieve effective program delivery
9.0 Undertake special projects and perform other related duties as required.
||1.0 A university degree or diploma in Human Resources (or related discipline) with 5 or more years of Human Resources generalist experience, with a particular strength in Labour Relations. CHRP designation or working towards is an asset.
2.0 A minimum of five years of human resources experience preferably in healthcare, or a combination of education and experience.
3.0 The ability to research, analyze and reason logically and effectively within tight and conflicting timeframes.
4.0 Handles confidential information in an ethical manner.
5.0 Strong work ethic, high level of enthusiasm and ability to excel in a flexible, fast paced environment.
6.0 Excellent interpersonal skills and an effective communication both orally and in writing.
7.0 Knowledge of applicable legislation.
8.0 Labour Relations, Employee Relations and contract interpretation experience.
