Business Development Representative

Position Overview

Responsibilities

A Business Development Representative’s primary responsibility is to aggressively secure revenues from targeted prospects and leads generated by Marketing. You will be responsible for converting these leads to prospects and prospects to customers by identifying and generating interest and proving value and close business opportunities. This will make up 80% of the daily activities.
 
This position will also:
  • Cold call and qualify decision makers within targeted audiences and handle objections in order to negotiate and close business.
  • Follow up on new leads generated by Marketing. 
  • Meet or exceed outbound call and transition and close rate metrics.
  • Serve as key contact person for leads and prospects on all pre‐sales activities. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with decision makers at prospective customer companies. This will typically be engineers and engineering management, but may include executive management.
  • Maintain complete and comprehensive information on databases.
  • Timely submission of requested plans, forecasts and expense reports.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of Business to Business sales experience 
  • Professional yet effective telephone skills
  • Proven ability to successfully make cold calls and qualify prospects 
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills, across different levels of business professionals •
  • Experience with the MS Office Suite of products

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with prospecting for leads
  • Background with selling to larger accounts
  • Independent, dependable, resourceful and self motivated
  • Capable of questioning in an effective manner to understand customer needs
  • Creative problem solving to meet client needs
  • Demonstrate sound business judgment
  • Ability to work well with all functional work groups within the company
  • High comfort level with technology

 

Education Requirements:

Four year degree

Proto Labs’ Corporate Headquarters is located in Maple Plain, MN, just minutes west of the 494/394 interchange. Our Rosemount, MN facility is located off of the County Road 42 and Highway 3 intersection & east of 35W.
