Port Metro Vancouver (“PMV”) is Canada’s largest and most diversified port, stretching along 600 kilometres of shoreline and waterways and bordering on 16 municipalities. PMV leads the efficient and reliable movement of cargo and passengers, annually trading $75 billion in goods with more than 160 trading economies.
 
Reporting to the Director of Communications & Government Affairs and leading a team of employees, the Manager, Community Relations & Communications is responsible for developing and managing PMV’s corporate communications and the community relations program. This position will work closely with the management team in Communications & Government Affairs to build positive relationships with PMV’s neighbouring communities and enhance the PMV and Canada Place brands.
 
The Manager, Community Relations & Communications will represent PMV at special events and sponsorship meetings relating to the Canada Place brand and visitor experience, and will act as a liaison for external and media contacts, event productions producers and Canada Place tenant stakeholders.
 
This position will manage a variety of communication programs and services for both external and internal use, with primary responsibility for corporate communications and media relations, and performs other duties as required.

As the successful applicant you have excellent leadership qualities and management skills. You possess excellent communication and public speaking skills to effectively interface with all contacts including all levels of business, government and the public to represent PMV as a dynamic organization prepared to seize the opportunities it has as a world-class port. You have a strong customer service orientation while managing a breadth of responsibilities and consistently demonstrate effective decision-making, planning and initiative, while fostering the development of all of these competencies in PMV’s emerging leaders.
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
You possess a relevant university degree along with a minimum of 5 years of related experience in Community Relations or Communications at a management level, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. You have an excellent command of the English language, both oral and written and are computer literate.
