Position Overview
The Port Moody Police department is seeking a detail-oriented and efficient team player to primarily provide transcription services.  The position of Transcription Clerk is part of the Support Services Team and may be tasked with other support services duties.
Responsibilities
The Transcription Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties including, but not limited to: retrieval of digital recordings, transcription, printing and distribution of transcribed reports, filing, preparation of confidential correspondence and entering records into PRIME-BC.  This position also requires attendance to Regional Crown Counsel offices in order to swear an information form.

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Completion of Grade 12 and minimum 2 years of related experience performing routine work within a police records office, law firm, Court House or similar
  • Excellent attention to detail, proofreading skills and ability to accurately transcribe tapes for court purposes
  • Demonstrated reliability, organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with police and relevant agencies
  • Ability to follow directions, policy and procedures
  • Good listening and concentration skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of internal and external contacts and to voice concerns where required
  • Experience working with confidential materials in a position of trust
  • Clean Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Minimum typing skills of 45 words per minute, experienced with transcription equipment, MS Office and PRIME BC
