Position Overview
The City of Port Moody is seeking a Deputy City Clerk to provide support to the City Clerk in the provision of administrative, policy, procedural and legislative advice to City Council, senior staff and the public.
 
Responsibilities
The Deputy City Clerk is responsible for ensuring the proper preparation and distribution of City Council agendas and minutes, maintaining various official records, coordinating the corporate records management system and supervising support staff. This position coordinates information requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act under the direction of the City Clerk.  In addition the Deputy City Clerk will act for the City Clerk during the City Clerk’s absence.

Basic Qualifications
  • Municipal administration courses leading to or resulting in a Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Local Government Administration supplemented by relevant education
  • Knowledge and experience with General Local Elections
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with elected and appointed officials, the public and outside agencies, with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to plan, assign, supervise and check the work of office support staff
  • Ability to take and compose interpretive meeting minutes
  • Considerable knowledge of the applicable Acts, Charters, bylaws, statutes and other relevant legislation and policies 
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently and accurately to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with system applications such as MS Office programs
  • Valid BC drivers license and access to an automobile
