Position Overview The City of Port Moody is seeking a Sustainability and Energy Specialist to advance the City's key sustainability priorities with a primary focus on implementing the City's Community Energy and Emissions action initiatives.  This is a temporary position of approximately one year's duration.
Responsibilities The Sustainability and Energy Specialist will assist with the City's Sustainability Plan and Community Energy and Emissions Program by developing and implementing actions to achieve higher energy building performance; engaging local businesses in cost reduction and energy and carbon performance; and strengthening innovation, capacity building and collaboration through leading-edge initiatives to advance energy and carbon performance and to integrate further with the city's planning processes.  While primarily focused on energy and climate change, this position will also support initiatives that address the full suite of sustainability objectives, including implementing the City's Sustainability Plan.

Basic Qualifications
  • A related post-secondary degree, preferably including graduate level courses, plus one year of related experience performing research, writing reports and creating presentations and related materials
  • Knowledge and experience with sustainability as it relates to local government, with particular expertise in the areas of energy and climate change management and action.  Experience in overall sustainability management and community planning are key assets.
  • Self-starter who is able to innovate, use independent judgement and advance action effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communication and public relations skills
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
