Position Overview

This position will lead activities and supervise children at City parks this summer.  Leaders will be involved in sport, arts and recreational activities.

The Playground Leader will assist with preparing and implementing a variety of games and recreational activities for school aged children in a day camp environment.  This position will ensure the safety of participants and provide first aid as needed, direct volunteers and communicate with parents.
The employment period for this position is approximately July 2 to August 30, 2013.

Basic Qualifications  
Candidates must have the following to be considered for interview: 
  • Grade 12 and current enrollment in a post-secondary education program (returning to school in the fall)               
  • Current Standard Level 1 First Aid and CPR "A" 
  • Six months experience working with youth (ages 6 - 11 years) in a recreational setting
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs would be an asset
