Position Overview
The City of Port Moody is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the Operations team to fill a temporary full-time vacancy for approximately three months and the duration may be shortened or extended as operationally required.

This position will be responsible to: install, replace, maintain and repair a variety of street and traffic signs and asphalt and concrete surfaces for roadways. This position will also assist in the installation and repair of water and/or sewer services, perform a variety of general landscaping tasks and with snow removal and de-icing. This incumbent will be required to operate single or tandem axle dump trucks, service trucks, street sweeper, skid steer loader and a variety of small mobile equipment and tools.


This position will provide a relief/backup role to the Solid Waste Operators as required to meet operational requirements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Grade 12 supplemented with 2-3 years labouring experience preferably in roads & drainage, construction and/or public works environment
  • A valid Class 3 BC driver’s license with air endorsement
  • Experience and knowledge in operating small tools and equipment
  • Ability to operate a right-hand drive vehicle and/or an automated solid waste vehicle is an asset
  • Ability to operate a variety of work vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform manual work outdoors
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers and members of the public
