Position Overview The City of Port Moody is seeking a motivated and customer service oriented individual who will be responsible to plan, develop and administer a cross connection and backflow prevention program; assess the current uni-directional flushing program and provide recommendations for efficiency and water quality improvements.
Responsibilities Develop and maintain programs for secondary treatment facilities, PRVs, pump stations, pipe network; maintain water quality/quantity throughout the City’s distribution system. This position is also responsible for preparing annual water quality reports and monitoring water quality sampling.  The successful candidate will maintain positive working relationships with internal and external contacts and the public.

Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related experience plus completion of a 2-year technology program in Mechanical Sciences, Hydraulics, Water Quality Technology or related discipline from a recognized technical institute/college
  • Certified Tester/Inspector – Cross Connection Control and backflow prevention
  • EOCP Water Distribution Operator Level 1
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs, spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of AWWA and BCWWA cross connection and backflow prevention standards and initiatives
  • Knowledge of general municipal water quality monitoring and water system management practices
  • Thorough and accurate report writing capabilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
