Position Overview
The Port Moody Public Library is seeking an energetic, customer-oriented Librarian to provide reference and reader's advisory services, and to assist with collection development activities related to the adult collection.  Duties also include participating in the organization and delivery of adult programs. 
Requirements
This is a temporary full-time assignment until approximately October 2013.

Basic Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program (MLIS / MLS); or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of job related experience preferably in a public library
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in readers' advisory/reference search strategy and interview techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to select, maintain and develop public library collections for adults
  • Strong knowledge of current popular adult fiction and non-fiction titles
  • Ability to plan and present library programs for adults including the teaching of information skills workshops
  • Understanding of automated library systems and a demonstrated proficiency in the use of electronic resources
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills including the ability to deal with challenging patrons
  • Strong teamwork, organizational and leadership skills
