Position Overview
The City of Port Moody is seeking enthusiastic, energetic individuals to help organize instructional and recreational aquatic programs and to provide supervision, lifeguarding and swim lesson instruction for all age levels at one of our outdoor facilities, from approximately June to August 2013.
These key positions will work with an aquatic team to provide exceptional guarding and instruction services to the patrons of Port Moody’s outdoor pools. The successful candidates will bring strong life guard and supervisory skills, and must be committed to working 5 shifts a week with a guaranteed 37.5 hour work week.
  • Current certifications must accompany your resume
  • A written submission of the shifts you are available to work (hours of work include daytime, evening and weekends) must accompany your resume
  • Participation in mandatory pre-season training required (June 8, 2013)
  • Please note that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory police records check and also a satisfactory driver’s abstract.

Basic Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 and a minimum six months related experience, including experience with pool maintenance, supervision and computer and cash handling
  • National Lifesaving Services (NLS)
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate
  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • C.P.R. Certificate "C"
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Lifesaving Instrutor Course is an asset
  • Current enrollment in a post-secondary education program (returning in the fall) is preferred
