We have a full time employment opportunity in our IT Servers & Storage department for a System Administrator. This position reports to the Manager, Servers and Storage.
The successful incumbent of this position works with their team to implement and provide support for all supported operational platforms. Has an excellent understanding of operating systems, infrastructure security concepts and processes.
|Key Duties & Responsibilities
•Works with the team to implement and provide support for all supported platforms (ie. Computer hardware, operating systems, communication/networks and all related tools and utilities).
•Ensures the support needs of our production infrastructure environment are met.
•Ensures project needs are met when they are involved with.
•Ensures availability and reliability of our infrastructure environment (servers, storage, backup and communications) and its ability to meet the needs of the company.
•Provides technical support and guidance to level 1 and 2 support and works with vendors to resolve level 3 issues.
•Researches, evaluates and recommends hardware and software products.
•Provides new hardware specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure.
•Installation, testing and maintenance of operating systems software.
|Criteria for Application
•Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
•2+ years of IT work experience in Linux (Red Hat) enterprise system administration (exposure to AIX versions would be beneficial).
•Experience in troubleshooting and solving problems in a complex environment.
•Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimum supervision.
•Working knowledge of LDAP/AD, SAN, Fiber-Channel, Backup & Recovery and VMware.
•Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
•Actively stays current on technological direction and industry trends.
•Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
