We currently have a full time employment opportunity available in our IT Network department for a Senior Network Administrator. This position reports to the Manager, Network Technologies.
|Key Duties & Responsibilities
•Participate in the development and implementation of the infrastructure architecture for all supported network and telecommunications including all related tools and utilities.
•Ensure support needs of our production infrastructure environment are met.
•Participate in network and telecommunications management, performance monitoring and capacity planning.
•Ensure the reliability and availability of our network and telecommunications infrastructure environment and its ability to meet the needs of the company.
•Implement and maintain network management software; researching, analyzing and implementing software patches or hardware changes to fix any network deficiencies.
•Ensure all project needs are met which they are involved with.
•Participate in the development and maintenance of security standards in conjunction with their manager and the implementation of those standards for the network and telecommunications infrastructure environment.
•Maintain relationships with network and telecommunication vendors as required to meet the needs of the environment.
|Criteria for Application
•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
•5 to 7 years of IT work experience in network/telecommunication environments in design, implementation, administration and support.
•Extensive experience in TCP/IP and routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), Cisco firewalls, VPN, LAN and WAN technologies; network load balancing, QOS, structured and data centre wiring distribution systems, Voice over IP (VoIP), Cisco Call Manager and Call Manager Express design and engineering, IP Phones, voice mail, wireless LAN, cellular and smart phone technologies, UPS power systems, data centre management including power and air conditioning.
•Extensive experience in troubleshooting and solving problems in a complex environment.
•Excellent understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 network design, X.509 digital certificates and public key infrastructure (PKI), network management and monitoring systems; Cisco switching, routing and wireless LAN controller; troubleshooting LAN, WAN and wireless network protocols, DNS, DHCP and packet analysis.
•Good understanding of UNIX and Windows network administration including DNS, DHCP and network configurations.
•Good understanding of LDAP/AD, SAN, Fiber-Channel, VMware and BES, Email, Fax, IM systems, mobile devices and Terminal Services.
•Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimum supervision.
•Actively stays current on technological direction and industry trends.
•Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
•Ability to work with suppliers and vendors to resolve technical issues as they arise.
•Ability to make critical and successful decisions under pressure.
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Demonstrates leadership and initiative.
