Title Ethnic Procurement Specialist – Filipino Foods
Status Full Time

Program Agenda Reporting to the Ethnic Procurement Manager the successful incumbent will be responsible for the sourcing, pricing, promotion, and implementation of Filipino and other Asian merchandising/product mix plans in the Ethnic Division.
Key Duties & Responsibilities •Be responsible for the sourcing, pricing, promotion, and implementation of Filipino and other Asian merchandising/product mix plans in the Ethnic Division.
•Assists in the development of Filipino and Asian merchandising/product mix plans based on the company’s strategic direction, ethnic market positioning, and the division’s overall financial objectives.
•Compiles data (e.g., AC Nielsen, Crystal, Market Expert, SOM), analyzes item movement trends, and pro-actively manages Filipino and Asian product mix.
•Forecasts business opportunities with the focus on optimizing service levels, turns, delivery, and cost of goods.
•Maintains item and supplier data and ensures that information is processed accurately and expediently.
•Evaluates the performance of Filipino and Asian categories regularly to ensure that financial goals (i.e., sales, margin, market share) are achieved through a balance of promotional and regular pricing. Adjusts prices to optimize financial goals (e.g., sales, margin, cost of goods, sell through of items) and item movement/inventory.
•Implements and adheres to established pricing policies, procedures, and standards. Follows-up with Ethnic Procurement Manager to pro-actively resolve key pricing issues (e.g., zone pricing, competitive positioning, KVIs).
•Assists with the planning of promotional plans. Partners with key stakeholders (e.g., marketing, stores, suppliers) to ensure effective communication and implementation of promotional plans.
•Communicates environmental, legislative, and product integrity (e.g. food safety, quality) standards to suppliers to ensure compliance. Addresses issues/concerns pro-actively.
•Responds to product concerns expediently. Liaises with stores and/or suppliers to resolve issues.
•Analyzes and evaluates suppliers’ bids to determine optimum value. Recommends potential suppliers to Ethnic Procurement Manager.
•Participates in supplier negotiations (as required) and ensures that all relationships/agreements represent the company’s best interests and are conducted in a professional/ethical fashion.
•Remains current on consumer/marketplace trends, seeks out information to keep expertise current, and undertakes research (i.e., visits to competition, new importers/brokers).
Criteria for Application •Minimum 5 years of experience in retail sales experience including procurement, pricing, and merchandising of Filipino products (knowledge of other Asian food products an asset)
•Strong knowledge of Filipino product source of supplies; both locally and overseas.
•Post-secondary education in Business Administration or relevant discipline is considered an asset
•Fluent in English (good command of Mandarin, Cantonese, and/or Tagalog an asset).
•Basic knowledge and application/interpretation of:

oconsumer/marketing & buying principles including demographic and industry trends
osystems, applications, and databases (e.g. Excel, AC Nielsen)
ofinancial information (e.g., budgets, P/L statements) considered an asset

•Relationship building - creates and sustains positive relationships with others
•Entrepreneurially-oriented - demonstrates analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
•Learning agility - learns in a changing environment
