Position Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. July 14, 2014 to approx. November 20, 2014) Technical Assistant to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division; Parks Operations and Cemetery Services Department.
 
Summary of Duties

Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations and Cemetery Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for participating in work which involves parks and trails inventory data collection. Duties will require review and identification of new parks and trail infrastructure into a GPS-based database program.

 

Required Qualifications
Your education will include completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree or diploma in Earth Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, Horticulture and/or a GIS and Mapping Technology program. Work experience in a municipal government parks department or private landscape business would be an asset. A valid class 5 (full-privilege) BC Driver’s Licence is required. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and an ability to meet deadlines are essential. In addition, you must have excellent computer skills including MS Excel and Word.
 
Compensation & Benefits Overview
The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $24.11 - $28.33 per hour (2014 rates), plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
