Title Data Warehouse Specialist
Position Overview Our client is looking for an individual with a strong competence in data modeling, mapping and analysis. Data Modelling, Mapping and Analysis capabilities are needed to support Data Warehousing project deliveries for applications using the Data Warehousing Platform. This is a full-time permanent position and the location is in Toronto.
Responsibilities Take full accountability to work with business and technology partners to understand business requirements and develop data models and detailed data mappings to meet those requirements.
Ensure technical and business metadata are accurately produced.
Identify the business implications including impact to users of data-related decisions.
Demonstrate and apply sound knowledge of data modeling concepts including enterprise solutions for Data Management (ETL, EAI, Data dictionaries etc.)
Perform logical and highest level physical modeling of data.
Identify and recommend opportunities to improve data quality throughout the solution.
Take full accountability for the data architecture of the solution.
Coach, lead and mentor other practitioners.
Contribute to meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, within budget, adhering to standards.
Requirements Hands-on experience in delivering data modeling solutions is strongly desired.
A successful candidate for this role will need strong communication skills, organizational skills, the ability to interact with external vendors/business units, (technical and non-technical) and strong negotiation skills.
Experience in Data Warehousing, Unix environment, Unix Scripting, SQL, SAS, DB2 (or like environment) an asset.
Good understanding of project methodologies with knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC) an asset.
Ability to act autonomously, to recommend, negotiate and improve processes.
Strong listening and influencing skills to foster an open, innovative, responsive, and professional team environment.
Some travel may be required.
Proficiency in ERWIN, Powerdesigner (or like modeling tools) and MS Word, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint.
